Beauty and the Beast

Adapted and directed by Jon Ludwig
Set and puppet design by F. Elaine Williams
Lighting design by Liz Lee
First produced at the Center for Puppetry, 1995

The action was set in an urban contemporary junk heap and puppets were designed as found objects although specifically constructed to be manipulated in a Czech black theatre style. For example, Beauty was assembled from the junk heap as part of the opening action from mop head, parasol, blouse, and bow.
